A SURE FOUNDATION (2008-03-23 revision) Upon a sure foundation built, my house can never fall. No winds, nor hail, nor storm o'ercome, when Satan sends his all. My ever sure Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God. Will hold my house against the storm though Satan rage abroad. The devil sends his mighty winds, His stinging shafts now fly. His hail upon my roof doth beat, His storm clouds fill the sky. But on the rock of Christ my home protects me from the din. The devil's tide no power hath, while safe I dwell within. And when around me houses fall to gulfs of endless wo, Those mighty storms and torrents fierce shall never mine o'erflow. They have no pow'r! The rock on which I'm built stays firm through all. A sure foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall. May I remember all my days, and on this sure rock dwell. Lest Satan's storms o'erpower me to mis'ry, wo, and hell. When other houses rise and spread on shifting rocks or sand, On this sure rock, the ever true Redeemer's rock I'll stand.
