BRANCH OUT
You can work on your genealogy here just like you could on your home computer, but your work will be coordinated with your relatives who are also online. Your work will also be available to you from any internet computer in the world.

Depending on the privileges you request and receive from administrators (View, Edit, Accept changes, or Administer), your edits may be temporary until accepted. If you have considerable work to contribute or edit, please contact the Webmaster about downloading the GEDCOM from this site and merging your data or editing off-line temporarily rather than on-line.

If you would like to try a different way of editing your information, you can change the theme above for a different look or you can download this java file to your Desktop and double-click it for a completely different editing program. Use URL=http://www.hawsedc.com/phpGedView/ your own username and password, and GEDCOM=kdhaws.ged. Then click on the database and BKEdit.

We have space available to host a few more family tree GEDCOMs. If you have extended family that needs a way to collaborate on the same work, please contact the Webmaster about hosting your GEDCOM here.

LDS Church testing collaborative world tree

The LDS Church at beta.familysearch.org is now in the beta 2 phase of testing a web application much like phpGedView (the application that powers this site).

Demonstrated advantages over a site like this include the following:

-One central tree
-Connection of unlimited instances of the same person into one record without lossy merging
-Automatic searching of 500,000,000 people and manual "combining"/connecting

Disadvantages at the moment appear to include:

-No media files (photos, sounds, etc.)
-Sources being converted to notes

I have tested it and I am very impressed and anxious to move this site.
